David Hampton never married. He was one of the best known and respected citizens that Millbrook ever had. He started teaching school before Confederation. He was principal of Millbrook Public and High School for over 40 years - taught for almost 50 years. He founded the public library in Millbrook. He was librarian and treasurer of the library. He was also treasurer of the Village of Millbrook for many years. He was very involved in politics, lodge and church work. At his well attended funeral, as well as many representatives from the village, the school teachers and pupils marched from his home, the large white house across from the United Church, to the Presbyterian Cemetery north of Millbrook.
