It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alphonse Parent on December 25, 2020 at the age of 96 years and 9 months from the consequences of COVID. He was the husband of the late Alice Savard and lived in Beauport.

He is survived by his children: Carolle (Lawrence Dooley), France (Normand Talbot), Josette (Larry Roy), Dorisse, Benoit (Lucie Savard) and Charles; his grandchildren: Geneviève, Julia and Sarah Dooley, Antoine, Laurie and Maude Talbot, Marie-Andrèe and Hélène Mercier, Simon-Charles and Philippe Parent, Louis and François Parent and their spouses; his great-grandchildren: Eva, Alexandra, Coralie, Callum, Zavier, Julianne, Maxine, Sophie, Thomas and Adrielle as well as his sisters Georgette (late Armand Pelletier), Denise (late Pierre Perrault) and his brother Amédée (Germaine Lortie , late Colette Lavoie); his sisters-in-law from the Savard family: Thérèse Savard (late Antoine Rivard) and Jeanne Savard (Jean-Paul Couture) as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters Alexina (late Eugène Marcoux), Jeannette (late Victor Grenier), Annette, Marguerite (late Gérard Everell), and his brothers Sylvio (late Fernande Drouin), Léandre (late Pierrette Rainville) Roger (late Pierrette Pelchat), Jean (late Carmen Garneau) and Honoré.

In this holiday season, usually so conducive to gatherings, her family remembers the many occasions when Alice and Alphonse entertained casually. Their door was always open and Alphonse's joie de vivre did not fail to attract young and old alike. He worked for over 34 years at the Anglo Pulp, where his ingenuity and bravery made him a highly valued employee. In retirement, he continued to lead an active life, guided by the desire to help. He will have known much happiness; with Alice at the chalet, at the wheel of his tractor clearing his land or conscientiously stringing the wood he felled.

Without a doubt, his greatest pride will have been his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he will surely bless on New Year's Day.
